#41 Staying in Contact

I'm talking to a lot of different exchange students from different countries and one thing we are always talking about is how we are keeping contact with our loved ones back in our home countries. A lot of times they tell me, that they barely text or skype with their families, but with their friends. I think that that's kinda odd. I'm skyping with my family once a week either on Sunday or Saturday and I think it is perfect like that, I mean I want to know what's going on back home. I also think it's really nice being able to speak in german for a certain amount of time and to see the people I love a lot. I sometimes wish I would have had started to skype with my friends a bit earlier, but I didn't and that's what I'm doing now. I used to only video chat with my parents and sometimes uncle and aunt but now I try to do it with my friends more often. And whenever I skype with them, especially Julia, we talk for hours and hours! The last time we skyped, we talked for about 4 hours and that's a lot! But it's just a lot of fun and I can forget about things which annoy me over here and just be myself.

Ich rede mit einigen Austauschschülern aus ganz verschiedenen Länden und ein Thema über das wir immer reden ist wie wir Kontakt nach Hause halten. Oft wird mir erzählt, dass sie kaum mit denen skypen oder schreiben, also mit deren Eltern, aber ihren Freunden schon. ich finde das irgendwie komisch. Ich skype jede Woche einmal mit meinen Eltern entweder am Sonntag oder am Samstag und ich denke, dass es so perfekt ist. Ich mein, ich will ja auch wissen, was bei mir Zuhause so abgeht und ich finde, dass es schön ist für einen gewissen Zeitraum deutsch reden zu können und vor allem die Leute sehen zu können, die ich liebe. Manchmal wünschte ich mir auch, dass ich schon viel früher angefangen hätte mit meinen Freunden zu skypen, hab ich aber nicht und deshalb tue ich es jetzt. Ich hab immer nur mit meiner Familie über Videochat geredet, aber jetzt mach ich es auch relativ oft mit meinen Freunden. Immer wenn ich mit ihnen skype, vor allem mit Julia, reden wir für Stunden! Das letzte mal als ich mit Julia geskyped hab, haben wir sogar für ca 4 Stunden durchgängig geredet und das ist viel, sehr viel sogar! Es ist einfach jede Menge Spaß und ich kann das vergessen was mich hier aufregt und einfach ich sein.
